From last few days Shimla Police
is observing that some of the shopkeepers in Shimla City are selling different kinds
of prohibited, Ghutkha, Pan-masala, Tobacco, Khaini and loose cigarettes openly
to the public. HP state Government have completely banned on sale of above products
containing tobacco and nicotine.
Under this campaign
Shimla Police simultaneously raided on input of reliable sources in suspected
shops and recovered huge quantity of these banned products. From Mall road, recovered
284 packets of banned Tobacco based products, like gutkha, khaini etc., 89
Packets of open (loose) Cigarettes, 483 packets from Lakkar Bazaar and also challaned
10 violators of selling open cigarettes & recovered fine 10,000/-Rs and also
327 packets of banned Tobacco from Boileauganj market. In which action under
Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, is being initiated against the all violators.
However Police will keep this campaign continue against the violators.
